As part of Studying Surface Pattern Design and Textiles at Swansea College of Art, Aimee was involved in Swansea’s first Biophilic living project working with companies HACER, and Urban Foundry.
Aimee Created 6 sample size pieces to exhibit to both companies, this collaboration sort to bring together local people, coastline and Aimee’s passion for looking after the environment. Using end of roll fabrics and leathers donated from companies like Clarks, Toast and Orange Box, Aimee made sure her ethos and processes were in line with the values of the Swansea Biophilic Living Project.
This Project starts to show Aimee’s intuitive, scrubby yet endearing drawing style. It also brought to light how Aimee uses a mixed media approach in her techniques, weaving in free machine embroidery, traditional print/ press methods and use of industry standard technology (Laser cutting, Adobe software, Mimaki Fabric Printer and UV print).
